Anyone use VBulletin on InMotion hosting?

Postby mrchuckles on Fri May 29, 2009 12:28 am

I like the forum software VBulletin. Does anyone run it using InMotionHosting? If so, how isperformance and how hard was the install? Thanks in advance.

We have a lot of customers that run this, and to be honest, I haven't seen a customer so far with a well-populated VB installation that hasn't required a VPS - either with us or another host. VB tends to be CPU-heavy, and while it's supported on our systems and very easy to install, sites with heavy forum traffic can be problematic on a shared hosting plan.

Any kind of forum is too much for a shared hosting environment. If you get even a fair amount of traffic, it will be too much for the shared MySQL server. InMotion has high VPS prices; you can get one for $25-$35/mo.
